The Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) is committed to creating a structured, ethical, and compliant music industry that promotes the growth, sustainability, and protection of musicians and their intellectual property.
2. MEMBERSHIP OBLIGATIONS
- ✓ Comply with all UNMF regulations, policies, and codes of conduct
- ✓ Pay annual membership fees to respective associations
- ✓ Maintain ethical standards and professional conduct
- ✓ Participate in UNMF programs and initiatives
3. COPYRIGHT AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
- ✓ Register all musical works with Uganda Copyright Office and CMOs
- ✓ Obtain necessary licenses for public performances
- ✓ Respect intellectual property rights of other artists
- ✓ Report copyright infringement and unauthorized use
4. PERFORMANCE REGULATIONS
- ✓ Maintain professional conduct during performances
- ✓ Adhere to scheduled time slots and event programs
- ✓ Refrain from obscene or offensive content
- ✓ Ensure proper licensing for all public performances
5. FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS
- ✓ Maintain transparent financial records
- ✓ Register with URA and obtain TIN
- ✓ Pay applicable taxes on all music-related income
- ✓ Declare all revenue sources accurately
6. PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
- ✓ Maintain integrity and professionalism in all dealings
- ✓ Respect fellow musicians and industry stakeholders
- ✓ Use social media responsibly and professionally
- ✓ Avoid hate speech, cyberbullying, or defamatory content
7. CULTURAL PROMOTION
- ✓ Promote and protect Uganda's cultural heritage through music
- ✓ Represent Uganda positively in international engagements
- ✓ Support the development of traditional music
- ✓ Mentor emerging artists in cultural preservation
8. DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS
Violations of these rules may result in:
- ✓ Formal warnings
- ✓ Monetary fines
- ✓ Temporary suspension
- ✓ Permanent expulsion from UNMF
